One highly effective method of converting someone to anarchism

Article by Colonel Nogov on July 30, 2015

The enemies of freedom are many.  But there is an effective way to convert them.  The only problem is that it’s a slow and tedious process.

You must bring them to cognitive dissonance, WITH TRUTH.  When a person reaches the stage of cognitive dissonance in their mind, they have four general reactions.

1.  They analyze and re-evaluate their beliefs
2.  They make justifications
3.  They make justifications, but a different one
4.  They refuse to listen or think about the new information  (This is the fingers in the ears la la la defense.)

Once they’ve reach a stage of cognitive dissonance, we’ve got a small chance to win them over.  That percentage is different in different people.  Some people may be naturally analytical and easily consider the new information.  At the other end of the spectrum are people who will likely never consider the new information.

Changing someones mind the first time they reach cognitive dissonance is rare.  It usually takes multiple times in this stage before they’ll reach the desired results and re-evaluate their beliefs.  This is why it’s so tedious and frustrating some times.

Here’s an example of someone taking 10 times to reach the desired effect:

Attempt #1:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (finger…ears…la la la)

Attempt #2:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (fingers…ears…la la la)

Attempts 3,4, and 5:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (fingers…ears…la la la)

Attempt #6:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (justification)  Yeah, but without it we wouldn’t have roads or schools or fire departments, etc.

Attempt #7:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (justification)  Yeah, but without it we wouldn’t have roads or schools or fire departments, etc.

Attempt #8:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (justification)  Yeah, but the evil greedy rich people pay most of it, and they don’t need it.

Attempt #9:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  (justification)  Yeah, but the evil greedy rich people pay most of it, and they don’t need it.

Attempt #10:  Taxation is theft
Statist:  Wow, I never thought of it that way.

Ding!

So is ten the standard?  Hardly.  It’s probably closer to 1000 times exposure.  So here comes Mr. Statist walking down the street oblivious to reality.  He sees a bumper sticker on a car that reads, “Taxation is theft”.  He may or may not be consciously aware of it.  Fingers…ears…la la la.  He sees another bumper sticker with the same message.  He walks by a local business with a “taxation is theft” placard in the window.

He gets home and gets on the internet.  He reads something describing taxation is theft.  Still oblivious.  He wants to check out what’s going on with sports.  Does a search for his favorite football team.  A headline catches his eye so he clicks over.  The article talks about the new running back, etc.  The author of the article, being an anarchist, includes in the piece a section on why it’s wrong for governments to subsidize the building of stadiums because taxation is theft.

He’s being bombarded with the truth.  He doesn’t realize it on a conscience level, but his mind is starting to consider this.  Sooner or later, he will conscientiously accept this truth if he is continually bombarded with it.  If this guy sees the message 20 times a day, it’s effecting him.  If he sees it 100 times a day it’s effecting him faster.  This is why the message needs to be EVERYWHERE.  One guy can be dismissed as a loon.  10 guys.  100 guys.  But if thousands upon thousands are spreading this message, it changes minds.

The great thing about truth is that once it is recognized and understood, you can’t go back to believing a falsehood.  How many times have you seen the “support the troops, they’re defending our freedom” message.  I know I see it many, many times every day.  Do I support the troops?  Do you support the troops?  Not if you’re an anarchist.  You recognize the falsehood for what it is.

Imagine someone today trying to bring back slavery with a propaganda campaign.  “Slavery is great”  “Slavery is effective”  “Buy a slave, it will make your life easier” “There’s nothing wrong with slavery”.  “Humans owning humans is completely natural”  Would that work?

The truth can change someone’s mind from believing a falsehood, but a falsehood can not change someone’s mind who understands the truth.

The message of truth needs to be spread.  It cannot be compromised.  It cannot be watered down.

These people are sick.  Truth is the medicine.  You can’t force them to take it.  They must take the medicine themselves.  What we can do is offer it to them.  Over and over.  From every direction.  From every angle.  Say it this way.  Say it that way.  Sometimes as simply as a bumper sticker or conversation.  Sometimes an angry rant.  As long as it’s being said.  Repeatedly.  Constantly.  Repetitively.  From as many different sources as possible.

There are many messages of truth to spread.  Taxation is theft.  Cops are criminals.  IRS agents are extortionists.  Fractional reserve banking is fraud.  Wars of aggression is murder.  The troops are hired mercenaries.  Spanking is assault.  Etc.

Most people’s minds CAN be changed as long as you’re spreading truth.  Righties don’t become lefties and lefties don’t become righties because both sides are using propaganda.  But both groups can become anarchists because anarchists are spreading truth.

A small percentage of people cannot be converted.  Psychopaths and people who benefit immensely from the falsehoods.  This is a small percentage and nothing to be concerned about.

So find your voice and find your platform.  I stayed on the sidelines far too long.  This is a decision I regret.  One I’m remedying now.

For any who lack the resources and time it takes to build an effective platform, I am offering this platform.  If you’re a newbie, that’s okay.  I’ll help with editing.  If you’re seasoned and want to extend your reach, you’re welcome too.   Click here
