There’s enough historical empirical evidence to update the definition of socialism. I’ve posted Merriam-Websters definition then included two more for consideration at the end.
4 : a small group of elite wealthy and powerful people ruling, extorting, and oppressing a many times larger group of people into poverty until one or more or all of the following occur; mass famine, genocide, economic collapse, war, revolution.
