Right to die? Once again, government go fuck yourself!

Here’s the headline:  California Mom Christy O’Donnell Fights to Die on Her Own Terms.

It’s an exclusive interview with the State’s most annoying propagandist, clueless bubble head Katie Couric.

It’s a story of a woman with terminal cancer suing the State of California to “allow” her to kill herself with prescribed drugs.

This story is wrong in so many ways, I don’t even know where to begin.

First of all 3/4 of the story is touchy feely about this poor woman.  As if the emotional bombardment was necessary to make us have sympathy for this woman and her family.  It’s just standard procedure, invoke emotional responses before selling the bullshit.

What’s most infuriating is that the story isn’t written from the point of view that it’s none of the government’s goddamn business what we do with our lives.  It’s written from the angle that this is a tough decision to be made by the lawmakers.  Whether or not to “allow” people to end their life in this way.   (Go ahead and scream and use profanity.)

At the end of the story, they include this quote from the woman, “I’m not going to be a lawbreaker at the end of my life and then have the police come into my home and interrogate my family because it’s part of what they’re required to do when they investigate a suicide under the penal code,”

Does she not want to be a lawbreaker, even now, out of some warped sense of responsibility as a citizen to the state or because of the valid concern she brings up?  The valid concern being she doesn’t want one or more of her family members charged and prosecuted for murder.  Though it wasn’t phrased that way in the story, probably because of the oh so delicate ears of the peasants, a murder charge could very likely happen.  It would add insult to injury.  A beloved family member takes her own life to avoid a slow, painful, agonizing death and one or more other family members end up with life in prison.  Ain’t that the cherry on top.

Instead of portraying the evil of government as it rightfully should be, it’s portrayed as a tough decision.  A decision that needs to be carefully weighed and not taken lightly.  A decision that everyone should be involved in.  A decision that the wise elected dickheads in the legislature should make and make quickly for goodness sake.  Maybe even the supreme dickheads in black robes will one day make.  Hooey!

There was one more annoying quote in the story, “O’Donnell says it’s important that people know that she’s not suicidal: “I don’t want to die … I would do anything to live.””  Really.  Why would the article writer (if it wasn’t Katie who did the actual writing for the article) put that in there?  Don’t you think that goes without saying?  Are people really that stupid?

(as mindless Katie Couric follower)  Hmm,  this woman has cancer and is going to die within a month or two.  She wants to end her life peacefully and painlessly before this agonizing death.  Oh, she must be suicidal!

This shit makes me suicidal.
